Strategic Team Group, one of the UK's fastest growing suppliers of building and property solutions, has been awarded a contract worth £330k by Northern Counties Housing Association (NCHA) for the conversion of a Grade II listed building into ten flats.

The contract will involve converting the house, which is currently divided into a number of small flats, into ten larger flats by converting the basement of the building to provide additional space. The completed flats will then be added to NCHA's property portfolio. 

As part of the contract STG will work alongside an architect to ensure that the character of the building is retained and that all refurbishment works are completed sensitively.  STG will complete structural and refurbishment works as well as fitting new windows and doors and redecorating each flat as appropriate.  The company will utilise the services of Strategic Mechanical and Electrical, one of the group's associate companies, to complete any re-wiring required by each of the domestic properties.

The flats are located in a Grade II listed building on Queens Road in Edgerton, Huddersfield and it is estimated that the project will take approximately 18 weeks to complete.  A Grade II listed building is a building acknowledged by the Secretary of State for Culture to be of "special architectural or historic interest" and is protected under the Planning Act of 1990. There are 500,000 buildings currently protected by listing in England and Wales.

Founded in 1966 to provide Co-ownership Housing Schemes, an early form of low cost housing, Northern Counties Housing Association (NCHA) is a Registered Social Landlord regulated by The Housing Corporation. As a non-profit making organisation it was formed for the benefit of the community and has grown to be one of the largest housing associations in England and Wales.  The main activity of NCHA is the provision of homes for rent and it currently manages over 20,000 homes.
