Strategic Team Group wins prestigious charity award
British Heart Foundation celebrates corporate partnership efforts
Strategic Team Group (STG) has received a regional award for ‘Most Innovative Fundraising Idea’ at the British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) second Heart of Business Awards, 17 June 2008, as the BHF recognised the amazing achievements of its corporate partners. STG based in Castleford, West Yorkshire, is one of the UK’s fastest growing suppliers of building property services.
STG adopted the BHF as its charity of the year to run throughout 2007 and 2008 to raise awareness for the charity’s care work and aimed to raise £40,000 to fund a BHF Heart Nurse for a year.
Charles Tweed, STG business development director received
the Award in the presence of approximately 60 senior representatives from the BHF’s past and present corporate partnerships as well as prospective supporters who attended the evening, sponsored by MBNA. Journalist and broadcaster Andrew Neil presented Charles with the Award, after which, guests were treated to the screening of the Euro 2008 match between France and Italy – as the event was hosted at the FA’s Soho Square headquarters in London.
Douglas Rouse, Head of Corporate Partnerships, said “The British Heart Foundation was delighted to be chosen as the charity of the year for STG. From the very start of the partnership, the enthusiasm and inspirational fundraising ideas shown by staff was overwhelming.”
Highlights of the year included:
- The main focus of fundraising was a Charity Gala Dinner.
- A special Olympic themed event which raised over £30k. More than 500 customers, suppliers, service providers and staff members attended the event with many dressing in traditional costumes of their chosen countries.
Charles Tweed at STG said “I’m delighted to accept this award on behalf of everyone at STG. Our staff have really taken the partnership to heart, helping to make our fundraising events a huge success. We hope we can continue to raise substantial funds to help us smash our original target. We’ve really enjoyed working with the BHF and would like to thank everyone for taking part and raising money for such a worthwhile cause."
Rouse continued, “We are incredibly proud of our corporate partnerships and the valuable commitment they make to the British Heart Foundation. But heart disease remains the UK’s biggest killer, so our work must continue. We need more partners and corporate ambassadors to help us reach new supporters and continue our life-saving work.”
