Through our commitment to the delivery of sustainable solutions and the reduction of the carbon footprint in the built environment, we have developed real expertise in energy-saving and renewable energy technologies. Utilising innovative methods, materials and products, we constantly seek to improve the environmental performance of customers' buildings, reducing running costs for decades to come.

The environmental performance of our construction processes are constantly being reviewed to provide the best available solutions to customers. We are are constantly monitoring and evaluating new technologies on the market. Working closely with supply partners and consultants we are able to maximise energy-efficient and cost-saving opportunities.

Whole-house retrofit to Green Energy Standard

Under the Retrofit for the Future programme, working with an affordable housing customer, we brought three homes up to a 21st-century Green Energy Standard*. The homes, which date back to the early 1900s, were fitted with a variety of energy-efficient solutions including extensive insulation. We also installed composite doors, efficient gas boilers, an air-source heat pump, solar PV panels, and room sensors for measuring temperature and humidity levels when doors and windows are open and closed. New kitchens and bathrooms were fitted with energy-efficient appliances.

We are seeking other similar schemes and we will also involve key supply-chain partners to ensure we use the most efficient solutions on customers’ properties.

*The work reported here has been funded by the Technology Strategy Board under the Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) under the Retrofit for the Future programme. This project is one of nearly 90 projects funded under the programme. Further information on the programme can be found at: www.innovateuk.org/retrofit.

Working with Strategic Energy

Following the introduction of the Feed-in-Tariff (FIT), the government’s generous financial incentive scheme for low-carbon micro-generation, we launched Strategic Energy, which in partnership with Strategic Team Group offers a service for supplying and installing solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and other energy and cost-saving services.

It is our mission to give everyone the opportunity to take full advantage of the technology – from households and businesses to community housing providers. We can look at a number of models for customers, dependant on available capital and projected long-term energy/cost savings and FIT returns.

We are targeting a large domestic retrofit market and have secured number of large-scale schemes with social housing landlords.

Nearly all our new-build developments are fitted with solar PVs or solar thermals and we will continue to promote these technologies to customers as an added-value service. We continue to develop our energy solutions and seek opportunities with registered social landlords and local authorities to take full advantage of the Renewable Heat Incentive policy and the Green Deal.

Renewable energy and energy-saving solutions

We can provide a range of renewable energy and energy-efficient solutions. We can advise on the availability of grants and incentives and will always find the most appropriate and financially viable solution for customers:

  • A range of options for solar PV
  • Solar thermal
  • Air source heat pumps
  • Ground source heat pumps
  • Rainwater harvesting systems
  • Loft and cavity wall insulation
  • Low energy, high performance LED lighting solutions
  • Draft exclusion
