We are proud to be supporting The Prince of Wales Hospice in Pontefract as our main chosen corporate charity. We are supporting the Hospice till March 2012 and hope to raise significant funds over the period to help with the fantastic work they do.

Strategic Team Group is committed to improving the lives of others in the wider community and being involved in charity has become a key part of our CSR culture.

Since 2006, we have chosen a main ‘corporate charity’ which we have supported throughout our financial year through a variety of initiatives. Our choice of charity has often been influenced by the experiences of the people around us, our team members and their families.

The Prince of Wales Hospice opened for day care in 1989 and as a residential hospice in 1990. The Hospice is a safe haven for poorly people who will never get well and provides love, care and support for these people, and also for their families and friends.

It provides services free of charge to a catchment of 170,000 people in and around the Five Towns area. The hospice is open 365 days a year and costs £1.8m a year to run (nearly £5000 a day). Much of the funding is provided through charitable fundraising and through sales from the hospice’s 13 shops.
