A team of 30 strong Strategic Lions gathered at Branham Park in Leeds on Saturday 18th March to participate in The Royal British Legion Major Series (North) – a fundraising event organised by the British Military Fitness in aid of The Royal British Legion.
Ranging from fairly fit, to not so fit, our team was split over the 5K and 10K course. With sheer determination, we battled through, up and over countless obstacles to raise money and awareness for our chosen charities; Candlelighters and Reuben’s Retreat.
Candlelighters supports families with children and teenagers battling cancer across Yorkshire. They do this through The Square, which is situated in the centre of Leeds, as well as both in the clinic and on the ward at Leeds General Infirmary.
Reuben's Retreat was built in memory of Reuben Michael Graham to relieve the distress for families who have suffered the bereavement of a child, or have a child suffering from a life limiting or life threatening illness.
Operations Director, Gary Taylor, commented “now I have managed to get my breath back, I would like to thank everyone who participated. Everyone showed true British grit and determination. Hopefully, we have raised copious amounts of money for two great charities. STG would like to thank our families, friends and colleagues for their sponsorship and support.”
