Big hearted staff from Castleford based building contractor, Strategic Team Group, joined forces with local charity, Featherstone WRVS, to help deliver meals to elderly and vulnerable people living in the Featherstone area, during the adverse weather conditions on Friday 8 January 2010.

The heavy snow fall and sub zero temperatures forced 30 of the 200 staff and operatives, who would normally be working across the company’s 15 sites in Yorkshire, to return to the company’s head office in Castleford or stay at home.  Realising the impact the severe conditions would have on the elderly and vulnerable in the local community, the team were eager to offer help.

Approaching Featherstone WRVS, a charity that offers a range of practical services to help and support older people to live well, maintain their independence and play a part in their local community, Strategic Team Group arranged for 12 members of staff, ranging from board directors to bricklayers plus several four by four vehicles to help the charity deliver some 250 meals to residents in the Featherstone area.
