Castleford based building contractors, Strategic Team Group, has started work on a £2.7 million redevelopment project in Burley-in-Wharfedale on behalf of Incommunities, formerly Bradford Community Housing Trust, to provide much needed affordable homes.

The Lawn, in the heart of the Yorkshire village, previously provided sheltered bedsit accommodation, and is currently being rebuilt and refurbished by Strategic Team Group. A landmark stone development, The Lawn will provide some 14 new apartments, whilst a second standalone block is being built to create a further 15 new apartments for older people, with the units available for shared ownership and for rent. Associated services, parking and landscaped areas will also be incorporated into the development, which is due for completion in summer 2009.

Works at The Lawn, includes the conversion of the existing building and reclamation of materials followed by the construction of a single block, housing the new apartments.

Furthermore, the company recently completed a development of affordable homes on Norwood Avenue in Burley-in-Wharfedale on behalf of Incommunities, which included the construction of a single two storey block providing four apartments and services.

Commenting on the projects Ken Nicholson, Director of Incommunities' development and regeneration said:
