Building Contractor Raises £23k For British Heart Foundation At Gala Dinner.
Guests stepped up to the mark and raised over £23,000 at the second charity gala dinner hosted by Castleford based building contractors, Strategic Team Group. Some 600 guests from the Yorkshire business and construction communities dug deep on Saturday 26 April to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation at the Olympic themed event held in the Savile Suite at the Royal Armouries in Leeds.
Hosted by TV and radio presenter, Don Maclean and sponsored by Barclays Commercial, the evening saw guests, many of whom were dressed in national costumes to reflect the Olympic theme, thoroughly pampered with hand and arm massages courtesy of Jo Malone. Guest were serenaded by soul diva, Janet Jaye and then danced the night away to an ABBA tribute band.
The highlight of the evening was the charity auction hosted by auctioneer, Stuart Levin, which saw guests outbidding each other in an attempt to grab some of the "money can't buy" prizes, which included meeting the Sky Sports Soccer Saturday team donated by Danny Reuben of Thirty9 Sports Media, spending the day on the set of Inside Sport with presenter Gabby Logan, a home dinner party package prepared and cooked by Bibis' top chefs, plus a range signed sporting memorabilia from Tiger Woods to Leeds Rhinos and much more.
In addition, Strategic Team Group paid tribute to its suppliers, presenting Leeds based, Albion Electric Stores, which specialises in lighting, power control, wiring & security products, cables and public address equipment with the Supplier of the Year award. Whilst Leeds based specialist flooring & cleaning company, YGS Ltd, received the Sub-Contractor of the Year award. Furthermore, Strategic Team Group's office manager, Joan Reid was presented with the Life Time Achievement award, following 22 years in the business. Reminiscent of "This Is Your Life", the company secretly arranged for Joan's twin brother to fly over from Brisbane and surprise her on the night.
Commenting on the event, Charles Tweed, Strategic Team Group business development director said:
"We have been absolutely overwhelmed by the generosity of our suppliers, advisers, friends, colleagues and local businesses. All have played a crucial role in making the evening a huge success and ultimately raising so much money for the British Heart Foundation."
Penny Hamer, corporate partnerships manager for The British Heart Foundation added:
"Saturday's event was absolutely fantastic and a credit to everyone who was involved. I have been so impressed with the team at Strategic Team Group that I have nominated them for one of the British Heart Foundation's Heart of Business Awards which recognises those companies who are innovative and really put their heart and soul into raising money for our vital, life saving work. As the nation's heart charity we rely on companies such as STG to support the work we do. Adopting us as a charity of the year partner is just one way of doing this and it means that we can continue providing vital care services, conduct life saving research into the causes and treatments of heart disease and also provide valuable advise to the general public and the medical profession"
The funds raised will help the British Heart Foundation continue its pioneering research, vital prevention activity and quality care and support for everyone living with heart disease.
