STG Completes £95K Merseyrail Renovations
Strategic Team Group, one of the UK's fastest growing suppliers of building and property solutions, has successfully completed an extensive renovations project designed to improve network facilities on behalf of Merseyrail worth in excess of £95k.
The project is one of the first in the region to work to new Disability Discrimination Act standards and demonstrates Merseyrail's ongoing commitment to improve its facilities for both employees and customers. STG was appointed to undertake the five month project which primarily involved the refurbishment of ticket offices and staff welfare facilities. STG provided specialist site management, electrical, building, joinery and decoration services that could be carried out alongside continued public use of the facility.
Minor structural works were undertaken to allow for the fitting of a new automatic raise and lower DDA compliant pay window. New electrical, data and lighting services were provided and employee kitchens and toilets were upgraded. Automatic doors were installed at the station entrance and platform access point to deliver DDA compliance and high safety standards. In addition, a stand-alone toilet was constructed to offer full disabled and baby changing facilities alongside improved access to all station facilities.
Paul Collins, Assistant Facilities Manager, said:
"This has been a high profile renovation project which really demonstrates where our priorities lie as a service provider. We selected STG to carry out the project because of the company's experience and expertise. Working in station conditions alongside members of the public requires special training and skill and we did not make the decision lightly.
"Now completed the project delivers DDA compliance, better access to the station, improved welfare facilities and a brighter, cleaner atmosphere for both employees and passengers to enjoy."
