Strategic Team Group in Partnership with Chevin Housing Group to Replace Scarborough Eyesore in £1.23 Contract
Strategic Team Group, one of the UK's fastest growing suppliers of building and property solutions, has been awarded a design and build contract worth in excess of £1.23m with Chevin Housing Group.
The contract will involve the demolition of a notorious eyesore which has been visible to Scarborough residents and visitors for years. The parade of shops at the junction of Falsgrave Road and Seamer Road will finally take on a new lease of life as STG set to work replacing them with 14 two bedroom housing association apartments.
Work has already begun on the massive 52 week project and as the main contractor STG will take responsibility for the management and implementation of all works from demolition of the eyesore through to design, build and even decoration of the affordable new apartments.
Whilst undertaking the project STG will be trialling new technology on site in the form of an electronic signing in facility linked directly to the company's Headquarters. The new technology will enable STG to remotely monitor the number of individuals on site at any one time and assist with improving already impressive site management and health and safety standards. Should the trial prove successful, STG will roll out the new system to all sites.
David McKeown, Group Development & Regeneration Director of the Chevin Housing Group, said:
"We are delighted to be working with our partners Scarborough Borough Council and the Housing Corporation on the Seamer Road corner scheme. The provision of 14, two bedroomed apartments not only creates much needed affordable housing for the area, the scheme, being constructed by STG, will also help regenerate the corner and give the area a much needed lift."
