Prime Minister visits Strategic Site

Prime Minister, David Cameron, visited an Orbit Group development being delivered by Strategic Team Group (STG) in Burton upon Trent.

Mr Cameron backed up the autumn statement announcement of a £4bn investment into building more shared ownership homes.

Speaking on his announcement made during his visit to the East Midlands, the Prime Minister said: “From April next year, that will make 175,000 more people eligible for home ownership. It means some people will be able to buy a house, for example, in Yorkshire, with a deposit of just £1,400. It will be opened up to people of any occupation, the only restriction being that you have to earn under £80,000, and £90,000 in London.”

The Prime Minister took the time to speak to STG joinery apprentice Connor Hackleton (pictured far right), who also happens to be the son of Site Manager, Mark Hackleton. Mark has managed a number of award-winning affordable housing and mixed tenure developments for the company over the past few years.

Andy Watson, Managing Director of STG, welcomed the Prime Minister's announcement about investment in shared ownership and starter homes commenting, "We are delighted that the Government is investing in this area of the sector, allowing organisations like STG to accelerate delivery of much-needed affordable homes across the country. We are currently building 500 homes of varying tenure across the North West, Yorkshire and the Midlands with more than 40 additional sites in the pipeline."
