Yorkshire builder & housing association host recruitment day in Wakefield
Social housing construction and maintenance firm, Strategic Team Group, has teamed up with affordable homes provider, Yorkshire Housing, to host a recruitment day for local residents on Wednesday 27 June at St Georges Community Centre in Lupset, Wakefield.
The event, which is aimed at all age groups interested in work experience and apprenticeships in the construction and maintenance trade sectors, is taking place between 1:30pm and 3:30pm at St Georges Community Centre, Broadway, Lupset, Wakefield. The afternoon will include presentations from some of Strategic Team Group's current and former apprentices and the opportunity to arrange interviews.
The firm is currently carrying out improvement works to kitchen and bathrooms for Yorkshire Housing across both north and west Yorkshire, including works at a large scheme in Lupset, Wakefield, as part of a four year framework deal. The partnership sees Strategic Team Group commit to offering work experience and apprenticeships for Yorkshire Housing's tenants and residents in and around the Wakefield area, during the life of the four year contract. The firm are also sponsoring a trophy and prize, for one of Yorkshire Housing's most highly rated apprentices to celebrate their achievements.
"We have built an excellent working relationship with Yorkshire Housing and to show our commitment, we plan to invest in the future of Wakefield by training local people and providing job opportunities within their communities. We currently employ 220 people throughout the country and are always keen to provide opportunities to residents from the communities in which we work. So we are looking forward to recruiting some excellent new apprentices, who will buy into our ethos of service excellence," commented, Strategic Team Group's operations director, Gary Taylor.
Gill Robinson, Yorkshire Housing's employment and opportunities co-ordinator added:
"We are always looking for new initiatives that support our residents to improve their skills and find employment. It is great that STG have identified this opportunity to offer local residents a taste of working in the construction industry. Working with partners in this way enables us to help even more people."
