New build and refurbishment at Menston Hall
Client: Incommunities Group Ltd
Value: £2.7m
Duration: 52 weeks
Location: Menston, West Yorkshire
Regional office: Castleford
Transformation of a historic 19th century manor house, Menston Hall and the construction of two residential apartment buildings
The combined development, within an attractive village environment, provides 30 two-bedroom apartments, all presented to a high specification with contemporary fitted kitchens, bathrooms and en-suite facilities.
The conversion of Menston Hall is part of Incommunities' on-going multi-million pound investment to provide much needed affordable homes across the district. The scheme was part funded by the Homes and Communities Agency and is a mixed tenure development with 21c Properties marketing eight of the apartments for outright sale. Twenty-two of the homes have been released for shared ownership and rent by Incommunities.
In 2009, Incommunities and the Strategic Team Group joined forces to create 29 apartments at nearby 'The Lawn' in Burley-in-Wharfedale.
"STG have developed a high-quality development by bringing back to life a unique and historic village landmark."
Jez Lester, Assistant Chief Executive, Incommunities Group Ltd
Highlights
The scheme provided a combination of shared ownership, for rent or outright sale with a Homebuy Direct option (a 30% equity loan to assist purchasers). The project achieved code for sustainable homes level 3, Considerate Constructors Scheme score 35.5 and was delivered on time and on budget.
