Reducing carbon emissions

STG and Leeds University working together to increase carbon efficiency in construction

Through our continued use of MMC and sustainable building materials, it is one of our key objectives to work to reduce and control carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency in the properties we build and refurbish – to deliver ‘more quality for less cost’.

To achieve this aim we are working with a team of eminent and experienced experts in the built environment from Leeds University.

Our initial findings have identified a need for STG to employ a ‘Strategic Performance Improvement Engineer’ who will be partly funded by Leeds University.

The appointed SPIE will focus specifically on a number of key areas as detailed below and will utilise the skills of a broader team including architects, engineers, building supply companies and M&E contractors

  • Facilitating the interaction of academia and the building industry
  • Improved quality for less cost
  • Bridging the performance gap between forecast and actual
  • Airtightness
  • Thermal qualities
  • Sound reduction
  • Building to Sustainable Code ‘3’

We will share our findings with clients and seek their approval to incorporate new carbon-efficient methods into our service delivery.
