The College was in the process of selling a large piece of land. Part of the planning agreement with Barnsley College Planning and the buyers of the land was that Barnsley College would provide a Public Open Space, as required under Section 106 of the Town & Country Act 1990, to the specification agreed by all interested parties.

 The Open Space is situated on land owned by the College on Honeywell Lane close to their Sports Academy.
