This land-inclusive development is taking place on an existing parcel of wasteland situated on Horninglow Road in Burton-upon-Trent. Works comprise the creation of 51 new build houses, including a three-storey block of 18 one-bedroom apartments and 33 two/three-bedroom houses. All associated utilities, roadways and infrastructure works are included in the scheme. 18 of the properties will be made available under a shared-ownership scheme. All properties will meet Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.
The residential apartment block will be founded from piled foundations, with pre-cast concrete ground/upper floors and stairs. The houses will be constructed with block and beam concrete ground floors and TGI timber joists to the upper floors. Traditional masonry walling will be used for the internal and external walls. Roofs will be of timber truss covered with a traditional lathe, felt and roof tiles.
Extensive external works are also required, including the installation of new utility services, formation of private off-street parking, fencing, final landscaping and surfacing. The scheme will also include minor demolition works to a retaining boundary wall.
