Extension works were carried out to this operational primary school to provide an improved sports hall, circulation corridor and two new classrooms. In addition, refurbishment works were carried out to various toilet blocks within the main school.

- Client:

Extensive enabling works were carried out prior to commencement of the main construction, providing a temporary access road, parking and compound area. We diverted an existing public footpath and installed a temporary fire escape door to the existing hall in order to protect the safety of all on site.

The new extension was constructed using traditional techniques. Following site stripping and reduction of levels, we engineered piled foundations and installed a steel portal frame structure with traditional brick and blockwork to the required height

A pre-cast concrete beam and block floor was installed and the roof was re-engineered, with the installation of a specialist composite metal-decking roofing system. All wiring and data cabling was undertaken. New windows and doors were installed and the extension was fully fitted-out for immediate occupancy on completion.

External works included drainage, installation of services, creation of additional playground areas and landscaping.
