STG was contracted to perform extensive works to the client’s newly-acquired Lyncastle Road depot. The project comprised the removal of extensive block-paved yard materials and replacement with concrete, followed by the refurbishment of offices and unoccupied warehouse buildings.
The buildings and yard areas are set within their own grounds, which extend over 11 acres. The premises consist of three warehouses, two of which are interconnected while the third is an open-sided building. Additionally there is a separate office building, with further office space located on the first floor of Warehouse 2. The buildings are predominantly of large clear-span steel portal frame construction with external cladding to the facades and roof.
The main element of work was the formation of extensive concrete yards. The removal of existing block paving took place initially and this material was crushed on site for re-use. The levels were graded and compacted and new reinforced concrete was laid to line and level. Other external works included the extension of existing canopies, widening of existing roller shutter doors, white lining, installation of external lighting, formation of vehicle roundabout, removal of existing fuel station and decommissioning of fuel storage facilities.
The various existing buildings underwent general refurbishment, including mechanical and electrical works, general refurbishment, replacement of damaged cladding, installation of racking and formation of trade counter.
