Under this scheme, a former older people’s home was transformed into a 40-bedroom community-based intermediate care unit. The detached building is set within its own grounds and surrounded by residential properties. It consists of three wings: one single-storey area housing kitchen facilities, a dining room, laundry and boiler rooms and two two-storey residential wings.
The building is of modern brick and blockwork construction with a concrete tiled roof. Internally STG formed extensive new bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, as well as communal bathroom/toilet areas, offices, kitchens, laundry and other facilities at both ground and first floor levels.
Following the refurbishment works, we installed fixtures such as assisted baths and amended certain room layouts to suit new configurations. The existing boiler was replaced and extensive mechanical and electrical works were carried out, including new fire alarm and nurse-call systems.
External works included extending the existing car park, installation of cable ducting, new lighting, tarmacking and fencing.
