STG completed the construction of the 'Fulfilling Lives' Centre, a new single-storey building to provide facilities for 50 adults with learning disabilities. Some of the service users live in purpose-built accommodation directly opposite the project site in Rothwell, Leeds.

- Client:

The new building provides day care facilities at one level, incorporating a large dining area, coffee shop and kitchen, various therapy and medical rooms and a physiotherapy room. Spaces were constructed for creative arts and rebound therapy, while quiet and sensory rooms are also available. The specialist provision is complemented with toilets, offices etc. A central courtyard provides an area for socialising and outdoor activities.

Traditional construction techniques were used, including concrete pad foundations, a structural steel frame, cavity walls with clay-facing brick and concrete flooring. The roof was covered with a single-ply membrane system. Aluminium windows, doors and specified fixtures and fittings were installed in accordance with the client’s specification following completion of the new build works.

External works comprised alterations to the existing car parking, installation of drainage and new underground utility services to the building, general groundworks and landscaping works.
