An existing warehouse building in Leeds was converted by STG for use as a training venue for people with diverse mental and physical assistance needs. The project comprised refurbishment and internal reconfiguration works to provide a new reception area, learning and office spaces and a specialist equipment facility to the warehouse area.

- Client:

The internal works consisted of a full soft strip of specified areas (including asbestos removal), demolition/dismantling and construction of new walls to form the required rooms and work areas. Structural alterations were carried out, including the formation of new openings and introduction of new steelwork items. During this time extensive mechanical and electrical works were undertaken, such as upgrading boiler systems, radiators and electrical installations.

External works included demolition of ‘lean-to’ buildings and concrete platforms, the formation of new parking areas and creation of ramped access. Works to the main entrance comprised security fencing, replacement of rain-screen cladding and curtain walling. The scheme was completed with repairs to fragile roof structures, drainage works (including water attenuation) and installation of washer pits.
